In the works of Gilles Desrozier, onirism captures reality.
Using the photographic support resulting from his travels around the world, he superimposes, fragments, decomposes, recomposes his images and frees himself from the classic photographic codes.
The camera in the sense of camera obscura takes on a highly symbolic dimension here, revealing an intermediate space.
Gilles Desrozier’s photographs are remarkable in the sense that they confront several existential notions: dreams/reality, absence/presence, present/past.
These images seem to defy all notions of time and weight and place us, like in his “La Chambre des rêves” series, in an airlock where sensitivity, reminiscence would be perceptible.
The technique used pushes this reflection further. Because Gilles Desrozier explores the field of photographic possibilities, avoiding reducing it to its objective function, but rather affirming its correspondence with the arts, establishing a link with the singers of the imaginary: poets and painters. The images unfurl, evanescent, making us aware of a fleeting beauty whose brilliance has no words, but rather holds secrecy.
